When the Pastor's away...
it's time to play! This Sunday Pastor Emily and family are celebrating Lillian's 8th birthday at the Great Sand Dunes, so we are excited to welcome back a beloved former Pastor! Many of you will remember our guest, Rev. Bob Simpson, who pastored our church from 2009 to 2013.  He will be preaching on "On the Verge of All-In." It will be great to see him again and catch up on what is new in his life as a retired chaplain in Ft. Collins.  Please join us online or in the sanctuary at 10:30AM (and mark your calendars - we'll be moving back to 10:00AM on June 6th). This week we'll be singing He Lives and Pass It On as we celebrate Ascension Sunday.
May 16, 2021 Worship: Ascension Sunday, from Acts 1:1-11

    Baccalaureate
The Class of 2021 from Windsor High will be quarantined during our annual Baccalaureate service. But we will not let COVID stop us! Join faith leaders at Bethel Lutheran on Wednesday, May 19th at 7PM to offer a hybrid worship service honoring our graduates. Grace Johnson and Alex Tanner are both graduating this year, and we hope to honor them in worship on May 23rd.
    Calling All Youth
Incoming 6th graders through outgoing Seniors are invited to a WSYG (Walnut Street Youth Group) Lock-in at Bethel Lutheran this month. Adults are still needed to chaperone, contact Mandy Toms. Background checks required. Please register your teens here. There will be monthly events for families, children and youth this summer!
    Covid Remembrance
Our Mountain Sky Conference has set aside a day of remembrance for collective grieving, healing and renewal. Trees are living symbols that nurture healing and remind us of God’s promise for new life. On Sunday, June 6th, we are invited to plant trees across the Conference. Two UMC camps will receive donations to support reforestation for memorial groves: Flathead Lake UM  Camp in Rollins, MT and Buckhorn UM Camp in Bellvue, CO. Click here to donate.
    Calling All Kids
We are co-hosting Vacation Bible School at Bethel Lutheran Church for kids ages 3 to 5th grade, from 9AM-12PM June 14-18. Register here, registration is capped at 50 kids (first come, first served). Pastor Emily and others from our church will be launching into outer space - wanna join them? Volunteer here
    Chancel Choir
This Sunday we are debuting the virtual Choir in worship! You are invited to join us for the upcoming recordings. No experience needed, 1-on-1 rehearsals available. Contact Music Director Megan Mellenthien today!
    Need a nametag?
We are currently preparing an order for nametags for those new to our community. These are free to new members, but if anyone needs a replacement, we are happy to order you one, too. Please click here to email Debbie Bates in the church office, or give her a call to let her know (Tues-Fri 10AM-3PM). Thanks!
Monthly Mission Focus: Congo Water Project
Bring your Metal Recycling to the rear parking lot of the church (tin, aluminum, and all types of metal, including large appliances). Please bag smaller items. In 2013, Congo Projects for Relief (CPR) was formed to address health and literacy needs in the Katanga Province. CPR is working to provide a sustainable water system for the village of Musumba in the Kapanga District. This all-volunteer project is done with the support of the Tribal Chief and local Committee. We also gladly accept monetary donations; please note "Congo water project" on your check.
    Birthdays and Anniversaries
Happy Birthday to Ken Iliff and Jack Teeter on Thursday, May 13; Rowan Kerr on Friday, May 14; and Lillian Schoedel who turns 8 years old on Tuesday, May 18.
Happy Anniversary to Lind and Sally Weidlich celebrating 55 years together on Friday, May 14.

    From the Community
    Windsor Community Playhouse
"Some Assemblance of Normalcy" is the name of the play, and our own Monte Savage is in it.  A mash up of a must needed night of comedy one-acts.  Remaining performance dates include May 14, 15, 21 and 22 @ 7:00 pm. May 16 & 23 @2PM.
    Eastman Park River Experience
On Friday, May 14, at 4 p.m., the Town of Windsor will celebrate the opening of its newest attraction, the Eastman Park River Experience. Located along the Cache la Poudre River at Eastman Park Drive and 7th Street, the Eastman Park River Experience will be a new outdoor adventure spot with space devoted to gathering and a river-mile devoted to local kayaking, canoeing and tubing. When it opens on May 14, it will prove to be a fun public-access location that, in reality, is the beginning of a far greater master plan. For the initial phase, Windsor residents are invited to be among the first to float the new attraction during the opening celebration which will be attended by Mayor Paul Rennemeyer, its Town Board, town staff and dignitaries from surrounding areas.
    Need a hand?
The Windsor area has two food pantries open: The Windsor-Severance Pantry at Faith Church, 1020 Walnut,  is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00AM to Noon.  Bethel Lutheran Church, 328 Walnut, has also opened a small emergency pantry on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00AM to Noon. Tell your friends and neighbors!
    The Mountain Sky Conference offers:

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, also known as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We give thanks to Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander clergy and laity throughout the Mountain Sky Conference for their witness and ministry. This past year, the USA witnessed a growing number of hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans, a reminder that discrimination and racism not only have been a part of our history but still exist today. Let us celebrate and honor these siblings across our connection. More details and resources here.
