What Keeps You Up At Night?

What keeps you up at night?

In times of excitement, adventure, chaos, grief or uncertainty, we all may find it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I know the past few weeks have been challenging for our family as we packed, moved, and attempted to settle into our new home. Everything is out of place and up in the air - even the plan for our children to return to school is sketchy at best. In this artwork, All the Ways I am Words by Jan Richardson, I see myself, trying to give thanks for my blessings and struggles, clinging to the words from Luke 12:22-34 (which we will study this Sunday at 10:30AM in person or through online worship). Sometimes I manage to breathe deeply and let go, let God - other times, I white-knuckle grip my worries and problems. This week's 5th bead in our Pray Every Day series, the green one for our Special Concerns, invites us to share our most pressing fears with God.
Prayers for your sweet sleep, Pastor Emily Flemming

August is quickly approaching and we are so grateful to everyone who has been able to continue giving in many different ways; if nothing else, then in being kind. We all need it, especially right now! Your resources make a huge impact; we appreciate the $450 raised in July for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Please remember your financial gifts this week. Thanks!

Can you hear God?

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!

This is Monte Savage, I currently serve as your Lay Leader, and along with my wife, Karen, as your Children's Directors. I have the privilege of offering the sermon this week (thank you for asking me, Emily). We have all had need of an encouraging word or friendly smile at times, but when God gives us the task of encouraging others, how do we know what to say or do? This week we will look into some ways that we can hear God and trust his word to help us help ourselves and others during times of uncertainty. I do hope that you will join me in the sanctuary this Sunday at 10:30AM, if you feel safe (protocols like required face coverings, sanitation and distancing are in place). or online (link below). As we journey through this time of uncertainty together please know that I am always available to talk to if you have any questions or concerns. You can reach me at 970-556-1747 or montesavage2@gmail.com. I am praying for your physical and spiritual well being. Stay safe!
In His love,
Monte Savage

The Art of Life is Letting Go

How is the "letting go, letting God" going?

Last Sunday, we welcomed 24 people to our sanctuary (with 26 devices watching on YouTube Live). Many thanks to the Peaks Sub-district New Ministries Council for the $1000 grant to purchase our new video streaming platform (SlingStudio)! And thanks to Regis Schoedel for filming, and our new Office Manager Ali Hillman for running the slides and stream. Everyone wears a face covering and we are 6+ feet apart. Sure, it is odd and we miss some things (like warm hugs and handshakes). But for many, it feels oddly like coming home - and we even offered Communion! If you are over age 65 or have a compromised immune system, we encourage you to remain safer at home. But if you are ready to join us - we welcome you to the Quiet Center of our faith found in Psalm 46 this Sunday at 10:30AM. We are in week 2 of a 10-week series called Pray Every Day which uses prayer beads.

This Sunday, July 5th, we welcome you to worship in-person at 10:30AM in our sanctuary (with face coverings and distance). We continue to encourage anyone vulnerable to remain safer at home, and join us online. However, this week, things will be a bit different. Thanks to a grant from the Mountain Sky Conference's Peaks New Ministries Council, we have purchased and installed new live-streaming equipment. The system (SlingStudio) should greatly improve the audio and video quality of our online worship. But Facebook has changed security protocols and will not accept the stream. Therefore, please click the link below to join us on You Tube (where you can Set a Reminder, share Prayer Requests in Comments, and even watch on your SmartTV using the YouTube app). You can sned prayer requests in advance by clicking the prayer photo below. This Sunday kicks off a 10-week summer series called Pray Every Day.  When life heats up, we need to lean into prayer to connect us to God and one another. This series utilizes prayer beads, which you received last week or will via a porch visit in the next few days. Our first 2 beads - the golden God bead, and the bumpy black bead - remind us to Let Go, and Let God. What do you need to release this week so that God can lead? Read ahead in Matthew 11:25-30 to prepare your hearts to "let it goooo."

Thank you for your ongoing financial generosity to God and to our church! Please consider setting up an automated gift to our General Fund, or making a special offering to the Pastor's Discretionary Fund (our July Mission Focus). Pastors often get requests for help in situations that must be kept confidential. Due to the Pandemic, needs are increasing in our church family and community. If God moves you to help your neighbors in this way, please give online or by check to FUMC Windsor, Pastor’s Fund. Thank you!

We have had 2 successful food drives since the pandemic began, filling trunks with needed items and delivering them to the pantry. We will host another from 9-11AM on Thursday July 23. Roger and Cathy will be in front of the church with their trunk open. Please drop off: small bags of flour and sugar, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, toilet paper, other paper products. Any nonperishable food is appreciated, and cash donations are also needed. You may give online or by check to FUMC Windsor, Food Pantry.

How could we ever...
  • June's Metal Recycling for Clean Water in the Congo has raised $236.60 year-to-date.
  • Habitat for Humanity's Faith Build was sent $725 this year, and the groundbreaking/ blessing was this afternoon for 2 new homeowners in Evans.
  • Thanks to your Covid response early on, we provided a meal to the Windsor Healthcare Center staff on June 26th (pictured), as well as gift cards for custodians with BannerHealth, and 500+ home-sewn masks.
  • We sent $1,275 to the Miss Stone Center in N. Macedonia, through our Covenant Missionary, Jennifer Moore.

We need YOUR help!
Thanks to all who have helped us prepare and serve meals at the Catholic Charities Guadalupe Center in Greeley. We need 1-2 more helpers on Thursday, July 30th. Please call Francy Henderson (970-214-1475) to volunteer. We received a nice thank-you, especially from the Cold Weather Shelter: “This past season, which was extended due to the pandemic, resulted in volunteers serving 596 unique individuals with 13,554 nights of shelter... and 80 to 100 meals each evening.” A big shout out to Meg Persavich and Cheryl Gerstner (pictured), who led this personal mission project. They purchased, cooked and served 3 large meals this winter to our unhoused friends.

Prayer Requests
Joy for our new Office Manage Ali Hillman - welcome! Prayers for those still healing (Chris D., Jessica F., Tony P., Eric H., Cindy's father, Brett Abernathy); those in pain or decline (Nanci B., Ann G., Margaret H., Miriam Lee, Terri's brother Rich); those facing financial, emotional, mental or spiritual strain made worse by Covid; soldier Lizzy Przygoda.
