Unanswerable questions

This week has been filled with questions I can't answer: Who will be our new pastor? How can we ensure a healthy transition? Mom, what's for dinner? School is finally wrapping up tomorrow in Longmont, but I don't feel any wiser. Sometimes in life, we do not have the answers, but we are called to keep asking important questions. Last Sunday, we baptized baby Sebastian and his dad Richard. This Sunday' Sebastian's aunt and uncle Tiffanie and Justin have also asked to be baptized. What draws people to Christ? And why are we surprised when it does? There are so many mysteries in life and faith - and we'll dive into a few this week as we celebrate the Holy Trinity, and the United Methodist Church's Peace with Justice Sunday. My mother Vikki and older brother Erik arrive for the weekend (so come to church Sunday if you'd like to meet them).

NOTE: We do not stigmatize anyone's choices, but welcome and work to protect ALL people. Please continue using facial coverings in all groups larger than 10 (including worship). Thanks for your compassion and patience!

Everyone is invited to a WSYG (Walnut Street Youth Group) FREE Family Movie night showing of "How to Train Your Dragon" at St. Alban's Episcopal Church yard on Friday, June 5 at 8:00PM. Please BYOC (bring your own chair) for this outdoor event, popcorn and drinks provided.
    When's worship?
Please remember that next Sunday, June 6, we will begin worship at 10:00AM (rather than 10:30). Adult Sunday School will meet in person at 9:00AM in the basement, and Fellowship Time after worship will return to Fellowship Hall (with something to eat!)
Want to see more families in church?
Our new Family Ministries Developer, Brooklyn McBride, invites everyone to stay on next Sunday for lunch to discuss hopes and dreams for our children, grandchildren and future growth. Meet in the basement after Fellowship Time, as we talk and organize the big storage room.
Need a summer camp for your kids?
We are co-hosting Vacation Bible School at Bethel Lutheran Church for kids ages 3 to 5th grade, from 9AM-12PM June 14-18. Register here, registration is capped at 50 kids (first come, first served). Pastor Emily and others from our church will be launching into outer space - wanna join them? Volunteer here
    Need time to grieve?
The Mountain Sky Conference sets aside a day for collective grieving, healing and renewal from Covid-19. Trees are living symbols to nurture healing and remind us of God’s promise for new life. On June 6th, we are invited to plant trees locally or support memorial groves at 2 UMC camps: Flathead Lake (Rollins, MT) and Buckhorn (Bellvue, CO). Make donations here.
    Have big dreams?
On Tuesday, June 22nd at 5:30PM, our Leadership Board (formerly called Leadership Council) invites EVERYONE with hopes, dreams and ideas for the future of our church to join a one-hour visioning session in Fellowship Hall. We need to hear from new members, guests, and those who've been around forever. It's time to articulate what God has laid on our hearts. Contact Perry Cogburn, Leadership Chair, for questions, or to collect some of the background/source documents.
    Do you sing?
Did you miss virtual Choir's Doxology last Sunday? Check it out here. It was stunning! All are invited to join us for the upcoming recordings. No experience needed, 1-on-1 rehearsals available. Contact Music Director Megan Mellenthien.
    How's your smile?
We need to revive the tradition of having 2 ushers and greeters in the sanctuary on Sunday mornings to pass out bulletins, help new people find seats/get comfortable, and hand out Wiggly Worshiper Bags. We also need 2 volunteers at the Welcome Desk downstairs each week to keep our attendance, guest registry and contact tracing. Please contact the Church Office now to volunteer.
    Miss our Seniors?
We have been invited to resume worship at Columbine Commons every Sunday @2PM (on the Assisted Living side) and 2:45PM (on the Skilled Nursing side). Background checks, health checks and masks required, two volunteers per week. Please contact the Church Office to sign up. These are short 20-30 minute services of prayer, song, Scripture and message. Pastor Emily is happy to train you! We hate to disappoint our seniors, but have many open dates this summer!
    Do you craft?
Our United Methodist Women are having an annual Fall Bazaar in November to raise money for different local and international missions. We are relying on donations of your crafts!  Please spend this summer crafting and bring donations in the fall for this important cause. The date will be announced later. Questions? Contact UMW President Paula Allard.
    How important is clean water?
This is the last week for our May Mission Focus, though metal recylcing continues year-round. Our most recent load brought in $173.80 and since we started this project in 2015, we have raised $5,517 to support the all-volunteer Congo Projects for Relief (CPR). This group is building a sustainable water system for the village of Musumba in the Kapanga District of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Drop off your scrap metal (tin, aluminum, appliances) in the back parking lot behind the labeled gate.
Have cause to celebrate? We do...
Happy Birthday to Kevin Johnson & Steve Christian (5/27), Meadow Williams and John Berens (5/28), Mike Reed (5/29), Karomy Harmel (6/3), and Larry McCarty (6/4). No anniversaries this week.
Please share your dates with us!
    Does Prayer Work?

We sure believe so! Please pray for our church's leadership transition. June 27th is Pastor Emily's last day with us! Prayers for the new (not yet known) pastor, the graduates, those being baptized, all who are ill or recovering (joy: Terri's shoulder was only a debridement), those grieving the loss of loved ones, and for our homebound members Ann, Eileen, Judy, Bud, Bob, Don, Gene and Mel.

    A Sunday full of Celebrations

This Sunday we observe Pentecost, the birth-day of the Christian church. We invite everyone to wear RED  to celebrate the fire of the Holy Spirit. We'll be recognizing 3 graduating Seniors: Grace Johnson, Allison Spirek, and Alex Tanner, and we will also have the honor of baptizing one-year-old Sebastian Maxwell and his father Richard. There is much to share and celebrate! Please join us online or in the sanctuary at 10:30AM. And mark your calendars - we'll be moving back to 10:00AM on June 6th. This week we will be singing Breathe on Me, Breath of God and Spirit of the Living God as we celebrate Pentecost.

NOTE: in order not to stigmatize anyone's choices, and to warmly welcome and do our best to protect ALL people, facial coverings are still required in any group larger than 10 people. Thank you for your compassion and patience!

Welcome to Our New Staff Members!
      Family Ministries Developer
Hi! My name is Brooklyn McBride. I grew up in NoCo & currently live in Fort Collins with my husband Mike and our dog Diego. We love good coffee, live music, and exploring new places. I am an online MDiv student at Fuller Seminary (CA), and I've spent the last few years working in youth ministry (most recently in Greeley). More than anything, I love hearing people's stories, and I feel like it's my life's mission to build bigger tables for everyone to come and share in the love of Jesus. We're super excited to get to know and serve the FUMC Windsor community!
      Office Manager
Hi! My name is Carol Measel and I am excited for the opportunity to serve as the office manager at First United Methodist Church of Windsor. As a family we enjoy traveling, camping, paddle boarding and kayaking. We are originally from Arkansas but have fallen in love with Colorado. We are proud to call Windsor home and look forward to building stronger relationships within the church and community.

Monthly Mission Focus: Congo Water Project
Although this is our May focus, we recycle metal year round! Keep that in mind as you open those soda and tin cans. Collect them at home and bring them in to us. Also keep us in mind with the metal scraps cluttering up the garage. Keep the Congo in mind when you or your neighbors remodel your kitchen or bath. Our most recent recycling load brought in $173.80 and since we started this project in 2015 we have raised $5,517 to support the all-volunteer Congo Projects for Relief (CPR). A little bit of money goes a long way with this project, which is building a sustainable water system for the village of Musumba in the Kapanga District of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Mountain Sky Conference offers:

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, also known as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We give thanks to Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander clergy and laity throughout the Mountain Sky Conference for their witness and ministry. This past year, the USA witnessed a growing number of hate crimes against Asians and Asian Americans, a reminder that discrimination and racism not only have been a part of our history but still exist today. Let us celebrate and honor these siblings across our connection. More details and resources here.
